Watkins Glen Chamber Urgently Needs Volunteers

The Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce has an extremely urgent need for volunteers. The Chamber is looking for volunteers to greet visitors, answer questions, answer phone calls, and to do other duties as needed. Hours are 9:00-5:00 p.m. on weekdays. Shifts can be full days, 4-hour shifts, or whatever you're available to give. They are fairly flexible as they really need the help. Click here for more details. (Adobe Reader required)

Chamber of Commerce Volunteers Needed

The Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce is looking for summer help. They are in need of volunteers to cover Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. from the end of May until mid-October. Shifts are flexible and can be broken down into smaller 4-hour shifts if needed.

Volunteers will be asked to:

Greet visitors. Answer all questions about activities, dining and lodging etc in the area, in a neutral manner, as the volunteer is representing all Chamber members. Gives directions. Answers phone calls. Offer administrative support during "down time". Stock up brochures when needed. Folds newsletter or letters etc when needed. Assists Visitor Center Coordinator or Director of Tourism and Marketing as needed.

Empire State Senior Games

The Empire State Senior Games is an organized sports & leisure program for New York State Residents aged 50 & older as of December 31 of the year in which the Games take place.

The Senior Games attracts nearly 2000 athletes, along with guests & friends from across NY state. Athletes participate in more than 20 competitive sports & recreational events. There are also instructional clinics, informational exhibits, & educational seminars. Each evening features an informal social event planned specifically for Senior Games’ participants.

SUNY Cortland is the site for the Empire State Senior Games.

Do You Enjoy Traveling?

The Modeste Bedient Memorial Library in Branchport is looking for volunteers who enjoy traveling and who would be willing to give a short 30-45 minute presentation on a country they have visited. The presentation could include sharing photographs, mementos, facts and helpful information, and a general overview of your trip. The library would probably be able to provide a short video prior to your presentation as well as some foods that would be representative of the area.
