Annual Meeting: Cornell Cooperative Extension

The Annual Meeting of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County Association (RSVP's sponsoring agency), scheduled for Thursday, December 2, 7:30-9 a.m., will feature Dr. Jennifer Wilkins, Sr. Extension Associate with Cornell University’s Division of Nutritional Sciences, who will speak on “Local Food for Healthy People and Strong Communities.” A flyer is attached with more information.

The Annual Meeting is open to the public and will include a full breakfast, short business meeting with election of members to the Board of Directors, and our featured speaker. Cost is $10 per person. Reservations with payment are required by November 30, 2010. Call 607-535-7161 or email to schuyler@cornell.edu for information. We hope to see you there!

UPDATE: Schuyler County Transit

Effective Monday, November 15, Schuyler County Transit has made the following changes at the specific sites listed:

Jefferson Village Apartments, Watkins Glen: After the stop at Seneca Harbor Park, Schuyler County Transit vehicles will stop at Jefferson Village Apartment’s main entrance on Second Street. Anyone wishing to ride the bus may now wait by the main entrance on Second Street to flag the bus to stop.

Sydney Place Apartments, Odessa: In addition to picking people up at the Odessa Municipal Building stop, the bus will continue to Sydney Place Apartments and loop through the parking lot. Riders should be waiting outside the main entrance to flag the bus to stop.

Romeo Village Apartments, Montour Falls: Buses will stop on Broadway Street directly across from Romeo Village Apartment’s main driveway entrance. Riders may wait at the end of the driveway of Romeo Village Apartments to flag the bus to stop.

Riders should use the scheduled times listed for the Seneca Harbor Park, Odessa Municipal Building and Broadway Street stops accordingly to plan bus arrivals and departures.

    Light of Hope Brunch

    Every year, more than 500 children are reported abused and neglected in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties. To raise awareness of alarming statistics like these, CASA of the Southern Tier, Inc. will host a brunch on December 12th from 10:00 am until 2:00 at Castel Grisch Winery and Restaurant on Irelandville Rd., Watkins Glen, NY.
    All proceeds will benefit the abused and neglected children in our community. Tickets are $20/person, $10/child, gratuity and alcohol not included. Table and time reservations must be made in advance, so please call 535-9614 to reserve your seat today. Please call the CASA office at (607) 936-CASA (2272) for your tickets in advance, or they may be purchased at the door.

    American Mobile Dental Van Dates

    American Mobile Dental Van was such a huge success in Schuyler County that they are planning on returning in the Spring. They will come and park by the Head Start shed at the Schuyler Human Services Complex but ANYONE can be seen those days. The dates are April 20, May 18, June 29, July 27 and August 24. (All Wednesdays) They take all insurances, including Medicaid, will work with private pay or the uninsured. Appointments can be made by calling American Mobile Dental at 1-877-24-tooth.
